I have seen the future and it is here in Skype video. I have been using Skype video. You live in Denver and your son and daughter in law just had a baby boy! Wow if you could only see little Bartholemew. (I didn't say they had good taste in names) Your sister Liz, the one you tell all your secrets to, is two thousand miles away at Northwestern. You can see them and talk to them on Skype video! It is way to talk and see, videoconferencing. The videophone, videoconferencing has arrived in my opinion. I have been using Skype video recently and I think it fits the bill to help videoconferencing especially for individuals and families finally make prime time. Skype video has all the factors needed for wide spread usage.

It works pretty well. You actually have a good moving picture. There is some delay but much better than anything I have seen before.

It's easy and does not take any technical skill, just clicking buttons and entering numbers.

It's cheap. Basically free since Skype doesn't charge. All you need is your computer with an internet connection and a cheap video camera and microphone.



You can always find someone to tell you why something won't work and or is not needed. When cell phones came out I remember people said who needs it? They would ridicule men in supermarkets calling their wives to discuss what food to buy. Now everyone and his brother (and sister) has a cell phone and use it. I have recently been using Skype video. I have no connection with Skype except the one on my computer.
