THE REAL LIFE OF AN EMERGENCY DOCTOR

THE REAL LIFE OF AN EMERGENCY DOCTOR

I doubt if most people, no matter how many television episodes they have watched realize what it is like to be an emergency doctor. To be an emergency doctor requires a combination of quick thinking, organizational and people skills that sometimes seem almost beyond belief. No amount of television does it justice.
For an idea of what the life of an emergency doctor is really like look at this post from Suburban Emergency.

" I walked into room 12 and there before me was a 23 year old girl who had been out with her friends for a celebration. They had been doing shots all night and on the way home, they thought she had stopped breathing in the car. There she was, pale, blue, unresponsive with a heart rate of 35 and an O2 sat of 78%. Yikes. Instinct kicked in, she was intubated without drugs, lines were started, atropine given, she stabilized rather quickly. Her etoh level( blood alcohol) was 410. Thats a lot of shots".
