HOW DO I TREAT A CATS BITE AND WHY ARE CATS MORE INFECTIOUS






People love cats. Some hate cats. Sometimes though cats bite the hand that feeds them. (You might say a cat astrophe) The risk of infection from a cat's bite is higher than a dog bite. Cats bites make up only approximately 10% of all animal bites but are more likely to get infected than dog bites.

    The force of a domestic cat's bite does not match that of a dog. However,a cat's sharp teeth, which act like an injection needle, may cause a puncture wound into which bacterial organisms are inoculated. The risk of infection is compounded by the cat's habit of paw licking, which may contaminate their claws with oral flora, germs from the mouth. The risk of infection is higher following a cat's bite than a dog bite. Also, cats carry the risk of causing cat scratch fever also called cat scratch disease which is a infection with flu like symptoms and lymph node swelling caused by a germ that lives in a cat's mouth
