LONG TERM OUTCOME OF LASIK EYE PROCEDURE FOR NEARSIGHTED A STUDY SAYS EFFICACY SAFETY FOR HIGH MYOPIC PATIENTS IS GOOD
What is the long term outcome of LASIK procedures for the eye? LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is an eye procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea of the eye, the clear covering of the front of the eye, using an excimer laser. While LASIK is not that new LASIK is not that old and there have been questions about how long LASIK results last. A favorable study of long term LASIK outcome was published in a medical journal in January,2008.

"LASIK for myopia over −10 D is a safe procedure with myopic regression that slows down with time and a high rate of best spectacle-corrected visual acuity increase in the long-term. Myopia means near sighted, that is can't see far distances well. "Lead investigator Jorge L Alio said, These results are extremely encouraging considering that this refractive correction implies the maximum limit of application of this technique. This study has allowed us to demonstrate that, in spite of the prejudices about the limits of LASIK technique, the results regarding predictability, efficacy and safety for high myopic patients are very good in the long term."
But What is LASIK exactly, how do they do LASIK and what are the risks?
