Bret Michaels who is the lead singer for the band "Poison" talks in this video about the fact that he has had juvenile diabetes since he was six years old. Juvenile diabetes mellitus is also called type 1 diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes. The band Poison became one of the biggest of the 80's bands and also recorded several hit albums. Michaels talks about how he deals with his diabetes and the challenges he has faced and overcome.



The warning signs of type 1 diabetes include extreme thirst; frequent urination; drowsiness or lethargy; sugar in urine; sudden vision changes; increased appetite; sudden weight loss; fruity, sweet, or wine-like odor on breath; heavy, labored breathing; stupor; and unconsciousness.
